The Transportation Mobility Management project is an initiative that is helping to develop strategies to enhance regional coordination of local transportation services for the elderly and the disabled.

CCOG received the grant of nearly $200,000 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation to work with stakeholders to identify more efficient, effective and affordable ways of providing human service transit options for the elderly and disable and to help the Centralina region respond to continuing decreasing funding for traditional transportation functions.

The region’s Mobility Management project began in December 2011. Potential solutions will be identified in mid-2012, and a coordinated mobility management strategy finalized by mid-2013.

The goal of mobility management is to use available resources to improve mobility, improve efficiencies, and reduce cost. The work will be coordinated by the CCOG’s planning and aging departments.
