Centralina was recently awarded a $4.9 million HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant to support construction of a broad bi-state regional plan focused on growing the economy and jobs, controllingcostofgovernmentand improving quality of life.
Working together with Catawba Regional Council of Governments (our South Carolina Partner), the grant will provide resources to expand and accelerate work already underway linking strategic planning for growing the economy and jobs, with a comprehensive plan for sustainable regional growth plan.
The grant is essential to continued development of regional strategies initiated by the CONNECT visioning process. The region’s CONNECT vision, which has been adopted by communities representing over 70 percent of the population within our bi-state region, established six core values essential to a sustainable and resilient region.
The HUD grant is one element of an extensive, collaborative, region-wide planning effort underway to engage local governments and regional businesses, non-profits and residents, to ensure the region grows in a way that is sustainable and resilient.
