On August 31, 2016, Centralina Council of Governments hosted the 4th annual “Planning for Healthy Communities” Conference at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville. The event offered a full day of education, networking, and collaboration on topics related to community design, healthy food access, collaboration, equity, and data related to building healthy, economically viable communities. Presentations and breakout sessions focused on topics such as inserting public health into planning initiatives, providing access to healthy foods, making the business case for healthy planning, creating rural play spaces, and taking a comprehensive approach to increasing physical activity.
