“It’s helping me become a better elected official.”
“I came away with ideas my community can use.”
“I met great people, connected with other communities.”
“I’m blown away.”
“It was time well spent.”
These are just some of the reactions of elected officials and managers attending the 2nd annual Creative Solutions for Thriving Communities conference hosted by CCOG on December 3, 2015 at the Gastonia Conference Center.
Feedback from attendees praised the wealth of information and new ideas gathered from the keynote speeches and breakout sessions. Attendees also commented on the diversity of attendees from around the region and at both elected and staff levels. Clearly, an important value of attending is the opportunity to get to know each other across jurisdictional lines, share ideas and experiences.
Dr. James Johnson’s presentation on demographic trends impacting our nation, state and region, and the Innovation Café breakout sessions he facilitated, were for many an eye-opening highlight. “I wish he’d talked for two hours longer,” commented Cramerton Mayor Pro Tem Will Cauthen.
