Centralina Council of Governments is recruiting for a Water Resources Planner to oversee and administer an emerging variety of water, stormwater, watershed, and related environmental planning projects.

MAJOR DUTIES include: implementing stormwater and drought management education/ outreach programs for the Greater Charlotte Region; working with private non-profits, state, and local governments to implement policies and initiatives relating to stormwater, water quality/quantity, and other water related issues; serving as the go-to person and information provider to various agencies on water and environmental issues; providing grant management and oversight; providing staff and technical support to multi-jurisdictional marine commissions; and writing and administering land use codes and regulations relative to water, stormwater, growth and development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A Master’s Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Environmental Science or related field and 1+ years of relevant professional planning experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Successful candidate must have knowledge of water, environmental, and land use planning practices, principles and regulations. Must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse group of citizens, planning, and elected officials.

HIRING RANGE: $41,000 - $57,000 (Planner I or II-DOQ). COG also offers a full benefits package including: medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; annual vacation and sick leave; educational reimbursement; 401(k) and NC Local Government Employees’ Retirement Plan.
